Workshops - Pressed adobe blocks, best known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are made employing a combination of present day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced through the use of hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost totally dry and prepared for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, in the compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and much more efficient installation because of their uniformity of size and shape. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which increases the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be created in every seasons as a result of reduced moisture content.

Made by hand, or puddled, adobe bricks begin when a simple mix of earth and water is mixed to some near mud consistency. The mix will be laid in forms on the ground to mold the mud to the desired brick configuration. The shape is lifted off the adobe once the mud dries enough to help keep the adobes shape minus the form. After a day or two regarding, the bricks are positioned on edge to dry. The drying process will take from to one month to completely cure according to conditions. Puddled adobes result in bricks with a more individual shape, size and appear; no two bricks can be the same. They offer for any unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed in a finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and people with difficult access, site made adobes often work most effectively for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has created bricks in the borderlands of Mexico to the farm country of Montana.
