Beyond Adobe's goal is always to provide affordable, beautiful and sustainable solutions to old and new homes from the world's most energy efficient and sturdy material: earth; now expands to providing people with their greatest tool of most: knowledge, to build their own.

Beyond Adobe maintains adobe production yards in Camp Verde, Arizona and Deming, Boise state broncos. They regularly work through the entire American West utilizing local soils for on-site adobe production, for urban and rural projects. They love working with individuals and communities alike to build up, preserve and restore earth buildings. It's all regulated in the Shape

Beyond Adobe is likely to make any size, shape, or form of adobe brick you desire, and is able to make custom colored bricks from specified dirt or special shaped adobes to meet architectural demands. They use either pressed adobe, puddled adobe, or site made, with respect to the client and circumstances.

Workshops - Pressed adobe blocks, sometimes known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are manufactured using a mixture of modern day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by making use of hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and ready for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, both in compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and much more efficient installation because of their uniformity of size and shape. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which increases the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be made in every seasons because of the reduced moisture content.

Hand made, or puddled, adobe bricks begin whenever a simple combination of earth and water is mixed to some near mud consistency. The mixture will be laid in forms on the ground to mold the mud into the desired brick size and shape. The form is lifted off of the adobe once the mud dries enough to keep the adobes shape minus the form. After having a day or two associated with, the bricks are set on edge to dry. The drying process will take in one to four weeks to fully cure depending on climate conditions. Puddled adobes lead to bricks having a more individual shape, size and appear; no two bricks are quite the same. They supply for any unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed in a finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and those with difficult access, site made adobes often work best for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has made bricks from your borderlands of Mexico to the farm country of Montana.

Finished to Fine Perfection

Earth plasters and natural clay plasters bring beautiful, appealing finishes of nature to adobe walls. Earth plasters certainly are a mixture of pure clays and aggregates with coloring agents that can come from natural, non-toxic oxides and ochre mineral pigments. The plasters create stunning moods of their very own, plus a beautiful backdrop for art or wall hangings.

Natural clay plasters are organic and environmentally friendly in both their production and application. Their low embodied energy content makes then safe when applying within their completed form. They may be extremely energy efficient which help control temperature and humidity fluctuations: providing cooler climates in Summer, and warmer in the wintertime. They are also non-dusting, mold and fade resistant, and easily repairable.

Beyond Adobe produces their very own true, earth plaster. The plaster could be partially stabilized with lime or Portland cement. This earth plaster makes excellent base coats for both adobe and straw bale walls. Additionally, additionally, it may work as beautiful final plaster.
