Beyond Adobe's goal is to provide affordable, beautiful and sustainable methods to new and old homes out of the world's most energy efficient and durable material: earth; and today expands to providing people with their greatest tool of most: knowledge, to build their particular.

Beyond Adobe maintains adobe production yards in Camp Verde, Arizona and Deming, Boise state broncos. They regularly work through the American West utilizing local soils for on-site adobe production, for urban and rural projects. They like working together with individuals and communities alike to develop, preserve and restore earth buildings. Throughout a 2010 project in Old Town Cottonwood, that they had the fantastic pleasure of adding your bathroom addition to the now expanded Old Town Center for the Arts.

To make sure within the Shape

Beyond Adobe will make any size, shape, or form of adobe brick you would like, and is also capable of making custom colored bricks from specified dirt or special shaped adobes to satisfy architectural demands. They'll use either pressed adobe, puddled adobe, or site made, with respect to the client and circumstances.

Adobe - Pressed adobe blocks, sometimes known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are manufactured employing a mixture of modern-day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by making use of hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and prepared for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, both in compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and more efficient installation because of their uniformity of shape and size. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which boosts the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be made in every seasons as a result of reduced moisture content.

Handmade, or puddled, adobe bricks begin when a simple mix of earth and water is mixed to some near mud consistency. A combination will be laid in forms on the floor to mold the mud in to the desired brick configuration. The shape is lifted off of the adobe if the mud dries enough to help keep the adobes shape with no form. After having a day or two of sunshine, the bricks are set on edge to dry. The drying process may take from one to four weeks to fully cure according to conditions. Puddled adobes lead to bricks with a more individual shape, size and look; no two bricks are very the same. They supply for a unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed inside a finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and the ones with difficult access, site made adobes often perform best for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has created bricks in the borderlands of Mexico towards the farm country of Montana.

Finished to Fine Perfection

Earth plasters and natural clay plasters bring beautiful, appealing finishes of nature to adobe walls. Earth plasters really are a blend of pure clays and aggregates with coloring agents that can come from natural, non-toxic oxides and ochre mineral pigments. Natural clay plasters are organic and eco-friendly in both their production and application. Their low embodied energy content makes then safe to use when applying in their completed form. They are extremely energy-efficient and help control temperature and humidity fluctuations: providing cooler climates in Summer, and warmer in Winter. They are also non-dusting, mold and fade resistant, and simply repairable.

Beyond Adobe produces their particular true, earth plaster. The plaster might be partially stabilized with lime or Portland cement. This earth plaster makes excellent base coats for adobe and straw bale walls. In addition, additionally, it may serve as beautiful final plaster.
