Beyond Adobe maintains adobe production yards in Camp Verde, Arizona and Deming, New Mexico. They regularly work through the entire American West utilizing local soils for on-site adobe production, both for urban and rural projects. They like working together with individuals and communities alike to produce, preserve and restore earth buildings. It's all regulated within the Shape

Beyond Adobe can make any size, shape, or type of adobe brick you want, and is also creating custom colored bricks from specified dirt or special shaped adobes to meet architectural demands. They'll use either pressed adobe, puddled adobe, or site made, based on the client and circumstances.

Workshops - Pressed adobe blocks, best known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are manufactured using a combination of present day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by utilizing hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and ready for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, both in compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and much more efficient installation due to their uniformity of shape and size. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which raises the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be made in all seasons due to the reduced moisture content.

Made by hand, or puddled, adobe bricks begin when a simple mix of earth and water is mixed to some near mud consistency. The mixture will then be laid in forms on a lawn to mold the mud in to the desired brick size and shape. The form is lifted from the adobe when the mud dries enough to keep the adobes shape without the form. After a few days associated with, the bricks are set on edge to dry. The drying process will take from to a month to fully cure depending on weather conditions. Puddled adobes lead to bricks with a more individual shape, size and look; no two bricks are quite the identical. They supply for a unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed in the finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and the ones with difficult access, site made adobes often work best for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has created bricks from your borderlands of Mexico for the farm country of Montana.
