Arizona - Pressed adobe blocks, best known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are created employing a mixture of modern-day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by utilizing hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost completely dry and ready for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, both in compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and much more efficient installation due to their uniformity of size and shape. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which increases the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be produced in every seasons because of the reduced moisture content.

Handmade, or puddled, adobe bricks begin each time a simple combination of earth and water is mixed to some near mud consistency. A combination will be laid in forms on a lawn to mold the mud in to the desired brick size and shape. The proper execution is lifted from the adobe once the mud dries enough to help keep the adobes shape without the form. After a couple of days regarding, the bricks are placed on edge to dry. The drying process may take from one to one month to totally cure depending on weather conditions. Puddled adobes bring about bricks having a more individual shape, size and appearance; no two bricks can be the identical. They offer for a unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed in the finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and the ones with difficult access, site made adobes often work best for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has made bricks from the borderlands of Mexico towards the farm country of Montana.
