They regularly work throughout the American West utilizing local soils for on-site adobe production, for urban and rural projects. They like working together with individuals and communities alike to build up, preserve and restore earth buildings. Throughout a 2010 project in Old Town Cottonwood, that they had the truly amazing pleasure of adding your bathrooms addition to the now expanded Old Town Center for your Arts.

It's all regulated within the Shape

Beyond Adobe will make any size, shape, or kind of adobe brick you want, and is also creating custom colored bricks from specified dirt or special shaped adobes to satisfy architectural demands. They will use either pressed adobe, puddled adobe, or site made, with respect to the client and circumstances.

Block - Pressed adobe blocks, best known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are created employing a mix of present day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by making use of hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and prepared for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, in the compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and much more efficient installation for their uniformity of configuration. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which raises the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be made in most seasons due to the reduced moisture content.

Made by hand, or puddled, adobe bricks begin when a simple mix of earth and water is mixed to a near mud consistency. The mixture will then be laid in forms on a lawn to mold the mud in to the desired brick configuration. The proper execution is lifted from the adobe if the mud dries enough to keep the adobes shape with no form. Following a few days of sunshine, the bricks are placed on edge to dry. The drying process will take in one to a month to completely cure depending on conditions. Puddled adobes bring about bricks having a more individual shape, size and appearance; no two bricks can be exactly the same. They offer for any unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed in the finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and people with difficult access, site made adobes often work best for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has made bricks from the borderlands of Mexico for the farm country of Montana.
