It's all regulated inside the Shape

Beyond Adobe can make any size, shape, or kind of adobe brick you want, and it is able to make custom colored bricks from specified dirt or special shaped adobes to fulfill architectural demands. They'll use either pressed adobe, puddled adobe, or site made, depending on the client and circumstances.

Arizona - Pressed adobe blocks, best known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are manufactured employing a mix of modern-day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by making use of hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and prepared for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, both in compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and more efficient installation due to their uniformity of size and shape. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which increases the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be made in most seasons due to the reduced moisture content.

Made by hand, or puddled, adobe bricks begin each time a simple combination of earth and water is mixed to a near mud consistency. A combination will be laid in forms on the floor to mold the mud in to the desired brick configuration. The shape is lifted from the adobe once the mud dries enough to maintain the adobes shape with no form. After a couple of days of sunshine, the bricks are placed on edge to dry. The drying process can take in one to four weeks to completely cure based on conditions. Puddled adobes result in bricks having a more individual shape, size and appear; no two bricks are very exactly the same. They provide for a unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed inside a finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and those with difficult access, site made adobes often work most effectively for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has made bricks from your borderlands of Mexico for the farm country of Montana.
