Design - Pressed adobe blocks, sometimes known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are made utilizing a mix of present day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced through the use of hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and ready for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, in the compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker plus more efficient installation due to their uniformity of shape and size. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which raises the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be made in every seasons because of the reduced moisture content.

Made by hand, or puddled, adobe bricks begin whenever a simple mixture of earth and water is mixed to some near mud consistency. The mix will then be laid in forms on the floor to mold the mud into the desired brick shape and size. The form is lifted off of the adobe once the mud dries enough to keep the adobes shape minus the form. Following a couple of days associated with, the bricks are placed on edge to dry. The drying process may take from to a month to completely cure depending on conditions. Puddled adobes bring about bricks with a more individual shape, size and look; no two bricks can be the same. They offer to get a unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed in a finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and those with difficult access, site made adobes often work best for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe makes bricks in the borderlands of Mexico towards the farm country of Montana.
