Building Homes Not Houses

Beyond Adobe's goal would be to provide affordable, beautiful and sustainable methods to old and new homes from the world's most power efficient and sturdy material: earth; now expands to providing individuals with their greatest tool of most: knowledge, to build their particular.

Beyond Adobe maintains adobe production yards in Camp Verde, Arizona and Deming, Boise state broncos. They regularly work throughout the American West utilizing local soils for on-site adobe production, both for urban and rural projects. They like dealing with individuals and communities alike to develop, preserve and restore earth buildings. Within a 2010 project in Old Town Cottonwood, that they had the truly amazing pleasure of adding your bathrooms accessory for the now expanded Old Town Center for that Arts.

To make sure inside the Shape

Beyond Adobe will make any size, shape, or type of adobe brick you would like, and is also able to make custom colored bricks from specified dirt or special shaped adobes to meet architectural demands. They will use either pressed adobe, puddled adobe, or site made, depending on the client and circumstances.

Eco - Pressed adobe blocks, best known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are created using a combination of present day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by making use of hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and ready for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, in compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and more efficient installation for their uniformity of size and shape. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which raises the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be made in all seasons as a result of reduced moisture content.

Made by hand, or puddled, adobe bricks begin when a simple mixture of earth and water is mixed to a near mud consistency. A combination will then be laid in forms on the ground to mold the mud in to the desired brick size and shape. The shape is lifted from the adobe when the mud dries enough to help keep the adobes shape minus the form. After a few days associated with, the bricks are positioned on edge to dry. The drying process will take in one to four weeks to completely cure depending on conditions. Puddled adobes bring about bricks using a more individual shape, size and appearance; no two bricks are very the same. They supply for a unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed in a finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and the ones with difficult access, site made adobes often work most effectively for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has created bricks from the borderlands of Mexico for the farm country of Montana.

Finished to Fine Perfection

Earth plasters and natural clay plasters bring beautiful, appealing finishes of nature to adobe walls. Earth plasters certainly are a mixture of pure clays and aggregates with coloring agents that can come from natural, non-toxic oxides and ochre mineral pigments. The plasters create stunning moods of their very own, along with a beautiful backdrop for art or wall hangings.

Natural clay plasters are organic and eco-friendly in the their production and application. Their low embodied energy content makes then safe to use when applying within their completed form. They may be extremely power efficient and help control humidity and temperature fluctuations: providing cooler climates in Summer, and warmer in the wintertime. They're also non-dusting, mold and fade resistant, and easily repairable.

Beyond Adobe produces their particular true, earth plaster. The plaster might be partially stabilized with lime or Portland cement. This earth plaster makes excellent base coats both for adobe and straw bale walls. In addition, it may also serve as beautiful final plaster.

Construction - Beyond Adobe can be an officially certified installer of yankee Clay Earth Plasters. Stated in, and taking advantage of materials from, the United States, American Clay uses natural clays, recycled and reclaimed aggregates and vibrant natural pigments.
