It's all regulated in the Shape

Beyond Adobe is likely to make any size, shape, or type of adobe brick you want, and is also able to make custom colored bricks from specified dirt or special shaped adobes to satisfy architectural demands. They will use either pressed adobe, puddled adobe, or site made, based on the client and circumstances.

Block - Pressed adobe blocks, sometimes known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are manufactured using a mixture of modern day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by utilizing hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and ready for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, in compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and more efficient installation due to their uniformity of size and shape. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which boosts the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be created in all seasons as a result of reduced moisture content.

Made by hand, or puddled, adobe bricks begin whenever a simple combination of earth and water is mixed to a near mud consistency. The mix is then laid in forms on the ground to mold the mud to the desired brick configuration. The shape is lifted from the adobe once the mud dries enough to maintain the adobes shape with no form. After having a day or two regarding, the bricks are set on edge to dry. The drying process will take from one to a month to completely cure depending on climate conditions. Puddled adobes lead to bricks using a more individual shape, size and look; no two bricks are very the identical. They supply for any unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed in a finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and the ones with difficult access, site made adobes often work most effectively for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has created bricks from the borderlands of Mexico for the farm country of Montana.
