To make sure within the Shape

Beyond Adobe will make any size, shape, or kind of adobe brick you want, and is able to make custom colored bricks from specified dirt or special shaped adobes to satisfy architectural demands. They use either pressed adobe, puddled adobe, or site made, based on the client and circumstances.

Dirt - Pressed adobe blocks, sometimes known as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are manufactured using a combination of present day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by utilizing hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and prepared for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, in the compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker and more efficient installation for their uniformity of configuration. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which increases the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be created in every seasons due to the reduced moisture content.

Made by hand, or puddled, adobe bricks begin whenever a simple combination of earth and water is mixed to a near mud consistency. A combination will then be laid in forms on a lawn to mold the mud into the desired brick configuration. The shape is lifted off the adobe once the mud dries enough to keep the adobes shape minus the form. After a couple of days associated with, the bricks are positioned on edge to dry. The drying process may take in one to a month to completely cure depending on climate conditions. Puddled adobes result in bricks having a more individual shape, size and look; no two bricks are very exactly the same. They provide for any unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed inside a finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and people with difficult access, site made adobes often work most effectively for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has created bricks in the borderlands of Mexico towards the farm country of Montana.

Finished to Fine Perfection

Earth plasters and natural clay plasters bring beautiful, appealing finishes of nature to adobe walls. Natural clay plasters are organic and environmentally friendly in both their production and application. Their low embodied energy content makes then safe when applying within their completed form. They're extremely energy efficient and help control temperature and humidity fluctuations: providing cooler climates in Summer, and warmer in the winter months. They're also non-dusting, mold and fade resistant, and easily repairable.

Beyond Adobe produces their own true, earth plaster. The plaster could be partially stabilized with lime or Portland cement. This earth plaster makes excellent base coats for both adobe and straw bale walls. Additionally, additionally, it may serve as beautiful final plaster.
