They'll use either pressed adobe, puddled adobe, or site made, depending on the client and circumstances.

Sustainable - Pressed adobe blocks, commonly known as as compressed adobe bricks or Earth blocks, are manufactured employing a mix of modern day technology and traditional earth building knowledge. Enhanced by utilizing hydraulic presses and machine automation, the bricks emerge almost dry and ready for building. Pressed adobes provide significant increases in strength, in compression and modulus of rupture, providing for quicker plus more efficient installation because of their uniformity of size and shape. The hydraulic force increases soil density, which raises the bricks' thermal mass ratings. Pressed adobes can be created in all seasons as a result of reduced moisture content.

Handmade, or puddled, adobe bricks begin whenever a simple mixture of earth and water is mixed to a near mud consistency. The mixture will then be laid in forms on the floor to mold the mud to the desired brick configuration. The proper execution is lifted from the adobe once the mud dries enough to keep the adobes shape minus the form. After a couple of days regarding, the bricks are set on edge to dry. The drying process may take in one to four weeks to fully cure based on weather conditions. Puddled adobes bring about bricks having a more individual shape, size and look; no two bricks are very exactly the same. They provide for any unique and pleasing aesthetic when left exposed inside a finished wall.

Site made adobe bricks vary widely. For rural sites and people with difficult access, site made adobes often work best for logistics and shipping costs. Beyond Adobe has made bricks in the borderlands of Mexico for the farm country of Montana.
